 ABOUT THE TRAINER

Arinze Onuaku, a Maryland native, received a basketball scholarship to Syracuse University where he played from 2005 – 2010. While at Syracuse, Arinze became the 52nd player in Syracuse history to score 1,000 points. Arinze finished his career with a .648 field goal percentage, and 11th all-time with 148 blocked shots. Arinze suffered a season-ending leg injury in the Big East Tournament in 2010.

Arinze graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and Broadcasting and started his professional basketball career after college. Over his 10 year professional career, Arinze played on 4 NBA teams, the NBA-D League, and in 6 countries across the world. While playing, Arinze received numerous achievements like 3x NBA D-League All Star, All-NBA D-League second and third team, and Philippines Best Import of the Conference.

Arinze has a strong passion for the game at any level and eager to pass his knowledge down to the youth. Arinze knows what it takes to put in the work to be able to compete at the highest level through adversity and injuries.  Arinze is confident he can add value and develop athletes throughout trainings.

Aside from training, Arinze is the Assistant Coach for the Girls Varsity basketball team at Holton Arms in Bethesda, MD.

ABOUT THE TRAINING SESSIONS

Where are the trainings held? All training sessions will be at MCPS gyms in the Silver Spring area or surrounding areas. 

How long is each training session? 60 minutes

Who should take this training? Boys and girls from ages 10+ looking to take their basketball skills to the next level.

How large are the groups? The groups will not consist of more than 12 kids at a time.

How often should my child train? We suggest a minimum two sessions per week in order to see significant development. 

What should my child bring with them to the training session? Water bottle, face mask, and a basketball (not required). 

Are parents/guardians able to stay and watch training? While we do not oppose, we do want to ensure there are no distractions in the gym so the children can get the full 60 minutes of training. 

What if my child is injured during training? In the rare circumstance your child gets injured, we will immediately call the parent/guardian and inform them of the situation. It is important to read the liability waiver. By clicking "agree" to the waiver, the parent/guardian is granting permission for Arinze Onuaku/AO Studio Basketball to take whatever action is necessary for the health and welfare of your child including consenting on parent/guardian's behalf to any and all medical treatment, procedures, operations and/or hospitalization. The parent/guardian also agrees to hold Arinze Onuaku harmless and indemnify for all medicals bills incurred due to injury.

How to reserve more than one session: Click on the basketball below or the calendar, select available session, enter athlete's name/age and agree to liability waiver, then book now. The session will appear in your shopping cart, use the menu to go back to Training Sessions to select more. Please reach out to AObasketball21@gmail.com with any questions.

Can I make payment by cash/venmo/zelle/cashapp? Although we would prefer to use the online secure system for making payment. We will accept cash and other payments prior to the start of the session. If you prefer to sign up without using our automated system, email AObasketball21@gmail.com and we will work to get you scheduled.

CANCELLATIONS/RESCHEDULING OF SESSIONS

What if my child is unable to make the session they signed up for? Contact AObasketball21@gmail.com at least 1 hour prior to the start of the training session. All sales are final, but credit will be given to use for an available session.

What if my child is showing signs of a sickness? Please do not send your child to training if he/she is not feeling well. All sales are final, but a credit will be given to use for an available session. Contact AObasketball21@gmail.com at least 1 hour prior to training session to let us know your child will not be there. 

What happens if the county closes the gym due to COVID or another unforeseen circumstance (i.e., snow) prior to my child's training session? An email will go out to guardian/parent and a credit will be provided for an available session of their choice when the gym opens back up. Guardian/parent can email AObasketball21@gmail.com with any questions.

ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING SESSIONS

Are one-on-one training sessions offered? Yes, please email AObasketball21@gmail.com. One-on-one or private sessions start at $75.00/hour.

Will my child need to wear a mask while training? Montgomery County COVID protocols will be followed.
